YUM YUM CUPCAKES!

The girls have enjoyed all the celebrations going on around here lately.  Mimi and Abbey both celebrated birthdays at the beginning of the month.  Here are some shots of the girls eating 'Dora' cupcakes on Abbey's birthday.  Do you think they liked them?!?!

Hello Lovely Weather...

We are loving the approaching fall weather!  We have spent a lot of time outside lately.  The girls are growing so fast (I know surprise, surprise!).  Ellis is talking incessantly and Audrey is copying everything she says!  It is so cute.  I have been bad about taking pictures, so here are the few that I have!

Ellis most likely telling me what I am doing...her latest favorite thing...she is always observing and commenting on what we are doing and wanting me to affirm that she knows what is going on!

This is sweet Audrey playing babies in the yard with their sunglasses on...this pic perfectly captures Audrey's personality!...yes she is about to pick her nose...she is definitely a nose picker!!  We are working on that...

This is as good as it gets for a pic of both of them with their sunglasses on...when I told them we were going outside, I grabbed my sunglasses, Ellis told me she wanted hers too!  So cute, they only lasted through this pic!

Babies!  They love to run with their strollers around the sidewalks in our front yard.

We have a willow tree in the front yard.  The girls love to run like crazy through the branches under the 'umbrella' it creates.  This is the best action shot I could get...my little point and shoot camera just doesn't quite go fast enough...hint, hint!!

Strange pic with the branch in Ellis' face and all, but this shows you a little more of how crazy fun they think this tree is...they will hold onto one of the branches and swing around until they fall down and then roll in the grass!  The giggles are priceless!

As promised....here is what we were up to the rest of the summer..

ice cream!! and lots of it! we were frequently found around town taking in some yummy coldness! or making and eating our own! this is Audrey's first ice cream cone. i don't think she really knew what to do with it. we really don't get cones very often since is is much less messy to get the girls cups.

hmmm...not sure that the bib helped! the heat didn't either!

the creek at the family reunion was a big hit. the girls had pink barbie nets to try and catch the minnows!

oma and papa came down the other night for mommy's birthday and ellis was still awake when we came home. papa just had to put her to sleep! they are so cute. we were up at their house this past weekend and papa was playing with them in their room. all i heard was ellis bossing papa around and telling him how to play and the three of them laughing! priceless!

I am working on updating pics of the girls on here...i have been trying all night, but blogger is not uploading my pics =(...what fun is a post without a bunch of pics...especially since it seems like it has been an eternity since I have updated! Maybe tomorrow....

Much belated update...
It has been forever since I have posted!! Not sure where that time went. The summer is flying by. We swim frequently. The girls love it. Ellis jumps off the diving board now and swims all around the pool with her floaties on. Audrey is getting more brave, but mostly likes playing on the steps. Ellis is talking more and more everyday. In fact, she is getting quite bossy with Audrey- the other day she told on Audrey (for what, I am still not sure). She came in my room and said "Mommy, Audee do dat!" I still don't know what "dat" is, but she was obviously doing something Ellis didn't approve of.

We spent 11 days in OK in June and had loads of fun. We played with friends, went to the zoo, shopped, and ate lots of good food (desserts too!). I don't have but a couple of pics from the trip on my camera...most of them are on friends' cameras.

Naps and Swimming....
We swam for the first time this year on Friday. Audrey loved it and wants to be big just like the other kids. She loved getting in and out of the pool on the steps. Ellis wasn't so sure about the pool yet. She didn't like being able to touch the bottom. She obviously doesn't remember last year when you couldn't stop her from jumping off the side! She will warm up soon enough I'm sure!

Naps...well, lately around here naps have been somewhat chaotic. Ellis is fighting naps all the time now. I know she is tired, but she doesn't want to actually go to sleep. Yesterday she cried for an hour before finally falling asleep and sleeping for three hours! Today after church she almost passed out at lunch, then fell asleep on the way home only to miraculously pop up and be perfectly rested when we put her in her bed when we got home. Anyhow, I am sure this is just a phase and will soon pass. For now, enjoy the funny pics of our sweet girls and their naps...

ICE CREAM & GOATS...

We were in Fredericksburg last weekend visiting Lane's Nana. The girls ate lots of ice cream and got to see goats up close for the first time. Nana's next door neighbor has three baby goats in her back yard and the girls thought that they were fun. However, I bet if you asked them what their favorite part of the weekend was it would most definitely be ice cream! Not that we don't have ice cream at home, we just don't eat it everyday!
